Steve Taylor, Athletic Director/Activities Coordinator, Science Lab Director by Simon Fletcher, Principal
One thing that many people are surprised to learn about PCS is how many talented student athletes we have. Steve understands the critical role that extracurricular sports and activities play in our children’s lives. As the Athletic Director and Activities Coordinator, he helps facilitate a culture that values both athletics and academics.
Born in Van Nuys and raised in San Diego, Steve found his way north as an undergraduate at the University of California, Santa Cruz. He earned his Bachelors of Science in Molecular and Cellular Biology and went on to earn his Master's degree in the same field at UCSC. Along with two colleagues, Steve founded a biotech company focused on increasing the efficiency of certain medical treatments. He continues to provide consulting services for laboratory design and business start-up. This background allows Steve to wear yet another hat at PCS, Science Lab Director.
Steve has strong roots in the Santa Cruz community. He coaches water polo at Santa Cruz high as well as with youth clubs. His daughter attends Santa Cruz High, and in his spare time you might find him surfing with her or generally enjoying the outdoor opportunities Santa Cruz offers. Steve sees PCS as a great resource for children in Santa Cruz and is proud that he is able to contribute his vast experience to improving athletics and activities for all Pumas.
