PCS is committed to creating confident well-prepared individuals who will go forth and change the world. Achieving this goal does not happen only at school. We recognize that our students are directly and indirectly affected by the accomplishments of their parents and grandparents before them. As such, we hope that PCS grandparents can join us on Grandparents Day where we honor and celebrate the caring and influence that grandparents have in the formation of our students.
We know that some of our grandparents provide much support to their PCS grandchildren, helping them in a variety of ways to navigate school and life. Some even volunteer directly at PCS.
The Grandparents Day event, from 8:45 to 11:00 am, will showcase school life at PCS, and will include a performance by choir, music and drama classes. Grandparents can choose a tour of the school (recommended for new student’s grandparents), or a classroom experience. The event will culminate with time for grandparents to share a social snack with their grandkids.
One veteran of several Grandparents Day events said, “I have not missed one Grandparents Day since my two grandchildren started coming– they are great!”
It’s a nice way for grandparents to spend time with their grandchildren, meet some of their teachers and friends, and learn about the school that has had a hand in shaping their academic lives.
We do however, rely on parents to provide the contact information for grandparents; we will invite them either electronically or via paper invitations depending upon your choice. The deadline to provide contact info so grandparents can be invited is Friday, October 25th. The deadline for grandparents and “grandfriends” to RSVP for Grandparents Day is Thursday, November 21st.
