Jimmy Kelly by David Levy, Faculty Dean
Jimmy is entering his 5th year of teaching history at PCS. Jimmy grew up in Redondo Beach. A lifelong Los Angeles Kings fan, he played junior hockey through high school. Jimmy spent his undergraduate years at UC Santa Barbara earning a degree in History before moving on to University College Dublin to earn a master's degree in Modern Irish History, focusing on the role of sports in cultural nationalism.
In his free time Jimmy enjoys zymology, bike racing and cross country running. His love of sports guides one of his dream vacations which would be to spend the month of July in France, following the Tour de France through each stage of the three week race. Additionally, Jimmy’s passion for history continues to be central in his life. He would strongly recommend the historical film Battle of Algiers and the book Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind, which helped him to think through his expectations about happiness and what it means to be human.
