AP Base Camp
This level of support is available to students who are primarily in the 10th and 11th grades, or are taking AP History Courses (AP World History and AP US History). This program is offered for 8 days prior to the beginning of classes in the fall. The major focus is on acquiring learning strategies necessary to understand and manage the depth of the material, an expectation of the AP History course requirements. Instructors strive to build efficiency in literacy skills to support the reading comprehension and conceptualization needed for the analysis of documents and the presentation of thoughts through written expression.
AP Test Preparation
PCS staff also provides seminars for AP test preparation after school, as well as on weekends for specific subjects. Students are able to review subject content and practice memory and test taking strategies. In addition, they obtain pointers on pacing themselves, processing stated questions/responses, and applying strategies of elimination in response selection.
